Make it Your Own!
It’s easy to reinvent a design to reflect your personal style.
We’ve taken three JBW charts and changed, fabric or thread, fabric and thread, and finished look to show you just how easy it
is to reinvent and personalize a chart.
The Great Pumpkin Alphabet
Though I loved the design, I felt the color and pumpkins just screamed Halloween. I wanted it to scream Autumn.
The original used four colors on a light background. I changed the fabric to a warm medium dark olive and chose an overdye silk to stitch the entire design. Now I feel comfortable displaying this as fall decor from September thru November.
Christmas Welcome
The original pillow was stitched in yellow greens, pink reds, and intense pink accents - colors specific to current trends.
The ruffled pillow was very Victorian and feminine.
We opted to shift the reds to a warm spicy red and
have it finished as a giant hanging flat back ornament
for use on doors, walls, or windows.
The tailored finish stretches usefulness and
places the emphasis on the stitched design.
Big bonus - it stores compactly!
The Rabbit Alphabet
Pink is not my personal favorite color -
I just didn’t see this fun design in bright pink on white.
Switching to a darker shade and stitching on raw linen brought everything more in line with my primitive nature.
As I worked the sampler, I accented with white floss to imitate lace and changed the buttons to gold spacer beads.
I like the French Country look and subtle feminine touch.
